Not in New Movie[]

There have been several reports that the crew of the next movie wanted to get Charles Grodin to make an appearance, and Grodin recently announced that he turned it down (I don't have time to post the link). Would this be a notable fact to put on this page? I don't know if we have any kind of policy regarding celebrities who were offered but turned down chances to work with the Muppets. --Minor muppetz 19:27, June 3, 2010 (UTC)

It would be a good mention on his page, with proper sourcing (I too saw the article) -- Nate (talk) 19:44, June 3, 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, the policy's pretty simple. A rumor or claim that someone was offered or turned down a role or mentioned in passing doesn't make that person "Muppet relevant." It's not a connection in itself. But if a person *already* has a Muppet connection, and the fact is sourced as correct, then it fits. In this case, we even have a direct quote (and the reason he was offered a cameo in the first place is The Great Muppet Caper). So that's all relevant and interesting. The past examples you're probably thinking of, Michael, were vague or even completely false rumors (usually from tabloids) about folks like Britney Spears appearing on Sesame, or the Russell Crowe story, where an Australian tabloid apparently asked a Sesame exec if they'd ever invite Russell Crowe as a guest (following a then-recent Crowe misbehavior story) and they said no. That's not relevant to us even if true (and it probably was in that case). -- Andrew Leal (talk) 20:45, June 3, 2010 (UTC)

I know my question's answered, but I'd like to mention that I wasn't thinking specifically of any other celebrities who were offered and turned down roles in relavent productions (okay, so maybe I thought a little about Robin Williams and Richard Pryor being offered guest spots on The Muppet Show...). --Minor muppetz 01:51, June 4, 2010 (UTC)

Autobiography[]

I flipped through How I Got to Be Whoever It Is I Am (ISBN 0446519405) yesterday and there's a great pic of Grodin and Piggy from his personal collection. I didn't have much time to look through any more of the book, but he must talk about his work with the Muppets somewhere in it. β€”Scott (talk) 14:56, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
