Do we know how this effect was created? I assume blue screen, but I want to be sure. Were they still using blue screen back then or had they already switched to green? -- Peter (talk) 19:53, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

I don't think they were even using blue screen yet. I'm pretty sure this is the same effect used for Kermit in "Disco Frog," the Feather Boas and the ghosts. — Scott (talk) 22:09, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

Would that mean two camera images would be composited together with one image (eg. the girl) show agains a black background and added as a transparent layer? Andrew 16:03, 13 September 2006 (UTC)

Yeah this is the old film against black trick (like the ghosts or The Fireys). Its a composit effect (not a chroma-key effect). They didn't really start using blue until Fraggle Rock (but they still used black a lot for other things). And green was not really used until The Muppet Christmas Carol. -- Brad D. There is one blue screen assisted skit in The Muppet Show series one, it looks awful but I cant for the life of me remember what it was called, an abstract fluffy muppet sings a song of some kind performed by Jerry Nelson. Andrew 23:02, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

On a guess you're thinking of "Dance" from Episode 121. Is it really blue screen assisted? Or just filmed against a high contrast background? The composit (composite?) effect is very distinctive because it is so clearly a superposition of things from different layers... -- Wendy (talk) 00:11, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

That looks like the one, I can't be sure but as a Dr Who fan I have seen alot of bad 1970s CSO work in my time and it displays some of the characteristics. :DAndrew 17:10, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
