The Dairy Maid[]

Would it be improper to call the cow from "The King's Breakfast" The Dairy Maid? -- Peter (talk) 17:49, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

Was she referred to as such in dialogue? If so, and if there's enough to say about her as distinct from cows in general, then I'd say go ahead. Andrew Leal (talk) 17:53, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
Well, the text of the poem is as follows. Turns out the cow is not The Dairymaid. She's The Alderney.
The King asked
The Queen, and
The Queen asked
The Dairymaid:
"Could we have some butter for
The Royal slice of bread?"
The Queen asked the Dairymaid,
The Dairymaid
Said, "Certainly,
I'll go and tell the cow
Now
Before she goes to bed."
The Dairymaid
She curtsied,
And went and told
The Alderney:
"Don't forget the butter for
The Royal slice of bread...
This is where we got the name The Queen (the the is always capitalized in the poem). I think we could move the whole section of the notes to her page, discussing the similarities between this cow and Gladys the Cow. Or maybe we could just put it under Cows? -- Peter (talk) 18:01, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
I was in the middle of posting the same thing. Alderney is a breed of cow I believe, for what that's worth. -- Wendy (talk) 18:04, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, it's a breed, not a name or even a title. It might be worth including as a note on the page (or better yet, creating a page for "The King's Breakfast" sketch, and including all those details), but I'm not sure if I'd include it as a seperate character (depending, as always, on how interesting you could actually make such a page; if there's enough for a fun article, go ahead). We do have some dog breeds, like Wolfhound and Afghan Hound, but those are specific puppets, not just generic dogs referred to as a breed in passing. Andrew Leal (talk) 18:07, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
How's this: The King's Breakfast? Now all we need is an A.A. Milne page. -- Peter (talk) 18:28, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
Nice. Great work on both pages. Andrew Leal (talk) 18:45, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
