You say muskrat, I say beaver...

... Let's call the whole thing off. Since Charlie and Harvey's last names and species aren't mentioned in the special, and there's conflicting evidence, I think it's safer to just call them Charlie and Harvey here. If anybody has better evidence either way, feel free to add it to the article. -- Danny (talk) 23:04, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

Caroly Wilcox refers to "Harvey Muskrat" in Behind the Scenes in Frogtown Hollow. —Scott (talk) 00:07, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
Ahh, it's the age old debate of Harvey vs. Charlie - Beaver vs. Muskrat:
While Caroly refers to a "Harvey Muskrat" in the "Behind the Scenes in Frogtown Hollow", in the same documentary Cheryl Henson referes to a "Charlie Muskrat". So are both Charlie and Harvey muskrats?
In the original book Harvey is the Musktat and Charlie is the beaver. However there is the argument that Charlie looks exactly like all the other muskrats (Hetty, Nat and Shirley) while and Harvey actually looks like a beaver (big buck-teeth and all). So maybe they switched the character's species (or just the puppets) around when making the special.
And if you look at Caroly's "Harvey Muskrat" quote in context, she talks about the "Harvey Muskrat" puppet being small, just covering the performers hand. That sounds more like Charlie than Harvey (Harvey had the biggest head of the jug-band members; while the Charlie puppet was just cloth covering Richard's hands). So Caroly might have just mixed up the first names, as the "Muskrat" puppet she describes sounds a lot more like Charlie.
So who really know? Muskrat? Beaver? That's why we finally decided to drop the last names. They aren't mentioned in the special and all the behind-the-scenes and source information seems to conflict and get complicated. -- Brad D. (talk) 00:40, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

Beaver or Muskrat?

I always thought Harvey was a muskrat...never a beaver. Where did the name Harvey Beaver come from? -- BradFraggle 00:52, 22 February 2006 (UTC)

I dunno, Dean switched Harvey and Charlie's species. In the book, it's Harvey Muskrat. What's the evidence in the show? -- Danny Toughpigs 01:23, 22 February 2006 (UTC)
The change also affects Hetty Muskrat, who was left untouched. Either Harvey is her son, and thus a muskrat (and I know the dialogue in the special refers to her as "Hetty Muksrat"}, or Charlie's her son. --Andrew, Aleal 02:28, 22 February 2006 (UTC)
Aaaand I just noticed things have been moved back. Huh. --Andrew, Aleal 02:29, 22 February 2006 (UTC)
