Part 3[]

I just saw HSM3, and I think I heard a line where somebody called somebody else a "Muppet gangster", but I don't know if I heard it right. I'm just putting this here until I go back and see it again. -- Ken (talk) 23:31, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

Variations on a Theme (Song)[]

Although it is true that the song in the "Pre-School Musical" sketch is not based on a particular High School Musical song, I would say, in terms of both message and melody, that it resembles "We're All In This Together" more than "Stick To The Status Quo." The portion of the song in which the Muppet characters repeat the phrase "Pre-School Musical" is somewhat reminicent of the chorus of the song, whereas the message of the song- one of friendship and unity- seems to be the same as the message of the "Pre-School Musical" sketch, as opposed to "Stick To The Status Quo," which is a faster-paced song whose message- don't break out of your clique- is soon disproved by the events of the film. The "Pre-School Musical" song may even be a pastiche of a number of "High School Musical" songs- one portion where Trey and Mary Ella comment on things they can do in the block and dress-up corners is a little slower, and seems to resemble "Breaking Free," a slower-paced song which is also a positive, dream-fulfillment song. This could probably be a subject of debate, though. Mobo85 12:09, 7 September 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, you're probably right. That addition was mostly my POV anyway. We should be careful with how we word it to keep it NPOV. —Scott (talk) 03:41, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
If there's uncertainty about which song it might be based on, and it's all personal opinion, it might be better to leave it out entirely, then (barring a quote at some point from the songwriters). It definitely looks like Sesame was attempting to parody the concept of the show, the look of the actors, and the general sound over a specific song (and trying to match based on "message" seems problematic, since that's usually not how Sesame song parodies tend to work anyway). -- Andrew Leal (talk) 04:20, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
