Awhile back, it seems Guillermo added 1970 to the song box (replacing the previous entry, 1975). We know, especially thanks to Old School: Volume 1, that the skit debuted in Season 2, so 75 is clearly wrong. However, Dean just changed it to 1971, which also falls into the season 2 time frame. Is there any source, through copyright notices (not infallible but a good indicator) or for that matter, episodes from that season with the sketch, to indicate which it is? If not, I'm inclined to take out the year and just mention the season. -- Andrew Leal (talk) 03:52, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

The copyright date given on Songs from the Street is 1975, but that's for the album version, which is a different recording. Since we know that the sketch is from Season 2, I would say 1970 is the best date. We've never talked about it specifically, but I think sometimes we use the first date of a season to stand in for things that happen in that season, in cases where we don't have actual airdates -- Season 1 is "1969", Season 2 is "1970", etc. -- Danny (talk) 12:02, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
Songs from the Street seems to be referring to CTW label reissue of Sesame Street 2 from 1975. The album recording of the song was initially released in 1971 on the Warner Brothers version of Sesame Street 2. I can check the actual record label for copyrights when I get home tonight and maybe that will help clarify things. At the same time, Guillermo knows much more than I do so my guess is that he's correct with 1970. Scotty J. 21:37, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
I checked the LP's inner sleeve and the lyric copyright was for Jonico Music 1971. But, re-reading Danny's post, He already answered the question. I jumped in too soon so I'm if this is a little redundant.  : ) Scotty J. 00:04, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
