I'm curious about this sentence: "Big Bird, Gordon, and Ruthie appeared at the ceremony to accept the award." I've noticed this tendency from time to time to conflate human cast members and characters in outside appearances and interviews (The Sesame Street Unpaved (documentary) page initially claimed it was "narrated by Maria," and not by Sonia Manzano). I haven't seen the appearance, but was it the Gordon and Ruthie characters, or performers Roscoe Orman and Ruth Buzzi? Andrew Leal (talk) 18:00, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
- Nothing was confirmed. I changed it only because Nick decided it was a safe assumption that it was "Roscoe Orman as Gordon" and so on. Right now, we know the actors appeared, so that's accurate. Whether they appeared in character is in question, and frankly I doubt it. Whenever I've seen individual cast members appear, even with a Muppet, on a talk show or whatnot, not counting special events like the Macy's Parade, it's always as themselves. The syndicated 1990s You Bet Your Live featured Loretta Long as herself with Big Bird, not Long as Susan. It's not impossible, but like I said above, I've seen examples of this on other pages, where the actor and character are confused, and where clearly that was not the case in the appearance.
