The Art of the Muppet's
The art of the Muppet's exhibit opened in the Lincoln Center, New York City in 1979. On display were the original puppets from Sam and Friends, characters from Saturday Night Live, Sesame Street and of course The Muppet Show. The exhibit toured the US stopping in nearly all major cities and becoming a huge success.
The poster on the left was used to advertise the exhibit. Very big, it measures almost 3 feet in height. The bottom portion of this poster is signed by Jim Henson, however in the majority of the posters this portion features the details of the current exhibit and where it is being shown. A beautiful poster, it features intricate detail encompassing 25 years of the company.
A few items were sold during the exhibits run. The Art of the Muppet's book is a wonderful insight into the workings of the company at the time of the Muppet's success. Written by the Henson Staff this book is still a favourite amongst fans. Several postcards were also sold and two of these are featured below. Others can be seen here.
