Written by Leslie Bricusse
Date 1967

Publisher Twentieth Century Music Corp., EMI Hastings Catalog, Inc.

"Talk to the Animals" was performed by Roger Moore in episode 524 of The Muppet Show. He was assisted in the song by Baskerville the Hound, Butch the Tiger, Quongo the Gorilla (who Roger called a Chimpanzee), a Skunk, Gnu, a Rabbit, some Otters, Squirrels, and Afghan Hound. Baskerville asks Roger Moore if he is also James Bond and tells him that some of the new animals on the set are actually spies in disguise. Roger ends up fighting numerous spies when they try to assassinate him during the song with appropriately changed lyrics for the situation. Roger comes out victorious and the animals rejoice.

The song was written for the 1967 film version of Doctor Dolittle, and was later used in the stage adaptation co-produced by The Jim Henson Company.

Part of the filming of this number was shown in the documentary Of Muppets and Men.
