Talyn Lyczac is Aeryn Sun's late father on Farscape. A man impersonating him appears in the episode "The Choice."
Years prior to the events of Farscape, Xhalax Sun fell in love with a fellow Peacekeeper named Talyn Lyczac. Against regulation, the two had a child. When the Peacekeepers found out, they forced Xhalax to choose between her daughter Aeryn and her lover Talyn. Ultimately, she chose Aeryn and killed Talyn. Aeryn would later name Moya's offspring after him.
In "The Choice," Aeryn travels to the planet Valldon to mourn the death of John Crichton (or rather, one of them). She meets a man who claims to be her father, and a DNA test even seems to confirm this. However, it is a trick by Xhalax, who had tracked Aeryn to Valldon in order to exact revenge. Xhalax hired a man to pose as the late Talyn Lyczac, planning to shoot him in front of Aeryn once Aeryn became attached to him.
The plan goes smoothly as Aeryn and the fake Talyn reconnect. However, while Xhalax's original plan involves shooting the man in his chest (which is protected by body armor), Xhalax shoots him in the back, resulting in his real death. Aeryn later admits that she didn't believe the man was her father, as much as she wanted to.
