Ted Hardshell appears in the third season Dinosaurs episode "Network Genius."
He's a "high-powered network executive" at the Antediluvian Broadcasting Company who "knows what the audience wants before they want it, and if they don't want it, he can make them want it or put it next to something they do want." He and his fellow executive Stu Boombird are in charge of shaping the future of television, which Ted calls, "the most powerful medium the world has ever known."
After screening the network's programming for Earl Sinclair, Ted and Stu put him in charge of the network's entire broadcast schedule. After Earl quits, Ted and Stu return to their jobs. When Stu calculates they have to bring the viewers' I.Q. down by sixty points, Ted wonders if they'd be too dumb to turn their sets on.
Notes[]
- Hardshell and Boombird are spoofs of ABC executives Ted Harbert and Stu Bloomberg, respectively. The two served together as executive vice presidents of ABC Entertainment from 1989 to 1992.
