The Telephone Man appears in Episode 2819 of Sesame Street.
He visits Oscar's trash can, where Oscar assumes he's visiting to either fix his telephone or sell him a new one. The man simply replies that he's educating people on the word "TELEPHONE," brandishing a sign bearing the word.
He returns twice more to the can, first as the Milk Man, then as the Banana Man, doing the same shtick.
