"Temptation," by Nacio Herb Brown and Arthur Freed, was first performed by Bing Crosby in the film Going Hollywood. It was later recorded several times by Perry Como, whose renditions landed on the pop charts in both 1945 and 1974.

The Muppet Glee Club performs "Temptation" on episode 101 of The Muppet Show. The Glee Club, which consists of Miss Piggy, two male pigs, four frogs and four chickens, is conducted by Kermit the Frog.

On their first try, the members of the Glee Club fails to sing at all; they do agree, however, that Kermit does an admirable job of waving his stick in the air. On the next attempt, they all start to sing different songs at the same time. Finally, Kermit askes them what they want to sing, and they all choose their favorite song, "Temptation." When Kermit lets Miss Piggy sing the lead vocals, she pushes her way through the chorus and eventually throws herself at him, hogging the spotlight for the very first time.

A trio of octopuses play an instrumental version of "Temptation" on drums and kazoos in episode 505 of The Muppet Show.

Notes

  • In this sketch, Frank Oz puppeteered Miss Piggy, but Richard Hunt performed her singing voice. This was the only time that Richard Hunt performed Miss Piggy's voice in a musical number.
  • Dave Goelz's head can been seen under the pair of chickens that he is puppeteering when Miss Piggy dives on Kermit at the end of the number.
