Bearsinthebed

"Ten in the Bed" is a nursery rhyme with repetitive verses. It is commonly presented in song as an exercise in counting backwards for children. It starts with any given number of children (or animal characters) sharing a bed. One of them complains that they're crowded and urges the others to roll over, causing the one on the end to fall out of bed. It ends with one in the bed who either ends up lonely or relieved to be alone in bed at last.

Sesame Street has used the song multiple times, its earliest being in Episode 0203 when Pete Seeger uses the song to help Big Bird count oranges. Other variations have appeared in the form of a cartoon with five bears (First: Episode 1231), as five tin cans with Oscar the Grouch and Ella Mitchell in Episode 0487, and on album recordings as "Six Little Grouches" from Sesame Street Sing-Along! and "Roll Over" from the CD version of Sesame Country.
