The Count's Hanukkah Countdown is a Sesame Street storybook that crosses-over the characters of the American Sesame Street and the Israeli Rechov Sumsum, as a co-production from Shalom Sesame.

Description[]

At a gala Hanukkah party on Sesame Street, Grover and the Count welcome visiting Israeli Muppet friends Brosh and Avigail, tell the story of Hanukkah, feast on latkes, and learn that EIGHT is the perfect Hanukkah number.

The story features extensive counting by the Count, on the way to the event and at it, which appears bolder, in a larger font size. Brosh's Aunt Sara and Uncle Joe appear, as well as their twins, Sam and Sadie. "Judah Maccabee and his small, brave army" are referenced, but only shown from afar, shooting at Antiochus' soldiers, mounted on the back of two elephants.

The post-script description of Hanukkah refers to "Syrian King Antiochus". Antiochus IV Epiphanes was actually Emperor of a larger entity, the Seleucid Empire; the soldiers repelled by the Macabees did return to Syria.
