- The Muppet Babies episode "From a Galaxy Far, Far Away..." uses footage from the movie when the babies are "playing UFO". The babies use a round coffee table with an overturned bowl on top to stand in for a flying saucer. Footage of the film's spacecraft is inter-cut with their nursery fantasy, and some of Baby Gonzo's alien dialogue is reminiscent of the language spoken in the film.
- "Gonzo's Weirder Than Me" in Muppet Magazine issue 14 presents a page of alien photos from movies and TV. For a shot of lead character Klaatu, Gonzo remarks, "This movie is called The Day the Earth Stood Still. That's probably because everyone stopped to ask this alien where he got his snappy silver suit."
- In the Farscape episode "I Shrink Therefore I Am," Crichton refers to the Coreeshi leader as "Gort" (a robot from the film), and says the phrase, "Klaatu barada nikto" (used in the film to stop Gort from being hostile).
