The Game Awards is an annual awards show celebrating achievements in the video game industry, and to show off exclusive footage from upcoming projects since 2014. The show is produced and hosted by game journalist Geoff Keighley, and is the successor the the Spike Video Game Awards, which began in 2003 and ceased in 2013, and is solely streamed online through various websites and console platforms.

On November 29, 2018, Geoff Keighley, announced Pepe the King Prawn as a presenter for the December 6 awards ceremony. During the show, he, along with Youtuber Ninja presented the award for Best Indie Game. During the presentation, he armed with a selfie stick, made attempts to get "shelfies."

For the 2019 Game Awards on December 12, 2019, Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker appeared to present the Games for Impact award. During their segment, they showed off a Muppet Labs VR set superglued to Beaker's face and presented "Untitled Beaker Game", a parody of "Untitled Goose Game" with Beaker roaming the village. After encountering the horrible goose within the game, it escapes into reality to try and steal the award envelope.
