DEBUT | 1992 |
The Ghost of Christmas Past appears to Ebenezer Scrooge in The Muppet Christmas Carol to remind him of his troubled past, appearing as an ethereal, childlike figure. The Ghost shows Scrooge his lonely childhood at school, a happy Christmas party at Fozziwig's, and his breakup with his fiancee, Belle.
In the audio commentary for the film's video release, Brian Henson explained the difficulty in achieving the ethereal look of The Ghost. The first shots filmed had the puppet submerged in a tank of baby oil, which proved to be expensive and difficult to keep clean, so the remaining footage was shot with the puppet in water.
