The Golden Child is a 1986 action comedy starring Eddie Murphy. The title character is a child with mystical powers to save humanity, targeted by evil wizards and demonic figures. A streetwise social worker (Murphy) is declared to be "the Chosen One" to rescue the Golden Child.

- Teppanyaki restaurant owner Chef Dan declares Animal "the Chosen One" in The Muppets Mayhem episode "Exile on Main Street" (and the moniker is even applied in a billboard showing the pair). Apart from referencing the film line, the chef is played by James Hong, who was in The Golden Child.
