The Great Gatsby is a 1925 novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald about a millionaire who attempts to reunite with his former lover. The story has been adapted several times, including films in 1974 and 2013 where the main character was played by Robert Redford and Leonardo DiCaprio, respectively.

- Shortly before the novel entered into the public domain in 2021, Ian Carlos Campbell wrote an article for The Verge suggesting that the Muppets should adapt the story.[1] The idea went viral, leading to documentary filmmaker Ben Crew publishing a script as fan fiction on his website.[2] Kermit the Frog was asked about the "fan-led campaign" in a 2022 interview with NME, "I've heard of that. An interesting idea, and I’m sure Miss Piggy would make a fantastic Daisy Buchanan, but as they say in Hollywood: 'We’ll get back to you.'"
