The Great Gilly Hopkins is a 2015 comedy-drama (adapting the 1978 children's book by Katherine Paterson). The story follows Gilly Hopkins, a feisty foster kid who is set on being reunited with her long-lost birth mother.
In one scene, Gilly and her foster brother watch Sesame Street. An excerpt from the show, featuring Cookie Monster on a picnic, is seen on the television set. Sesame Workshop receives credit for the use of the footage, and Frank Oz is in the closing cast list as "voice of Cookie Monster."
