The Guinness Book of World Records is a reference book published annually since 1955, listing achievements in a wide variety of fields. A common phrase used to indicate someone or something's accolades starts, "According to the Guinness Book of World Records..."

- A photo of Kermit the Frog and Rita Moreno from The Muppet Show episode 105 appears in the 1982 edition to represent Moreno's record for "Most Media Awards for an Actress" (she won her Emmy for her appearance on the show).
- The Muppet Show was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as "the most widely viewed program in the world, with an estimated 235 million [viewers] in 106 countries" from 1989 to 1994 (later dethroned by Baywatch).
