The Hundred and One Dalmatians is the original title of a 1956 children's novel by Dodie Smith, focusing on the large scale kidnapping of dalmatian puppies by the fur-obsessed Cruella de Vil.
The book was adapted by Disney for an animated feature in 1961 titled One Hundred and One Dalmatians on-screen (but often stylized 101 Dalmatians on home video and other merchandise and subsidiaries). This led to a number of remakes, sequels, and spinoffs, including a 1996 film with effects by Jim Henson's Creature Shop.
