Jimmy Dean, after hearing the usual music cue for Rowlf's spot, expresses concern for his hound dog buddy, who has been acting strangely. Rowlf slowly rises from behind his fence, to audience applause, and says... "Meow." The utterance has Rowlf worried, as he realizes he has a delusion that he's a cat. As he tells Jimmy, "Some guys think they're Napoleon. You think you're a singer."
Jimmy tries some amateur psychoanalysis, asking Rowlf if he dreams about being a cat. Rowlf's dreams include climbing trees, drinking milk, and playing bongos ("I dream I'm a tom-tom cat.") He asks Jimmy what kind of cat he'd be. The answer, pointing at his footwear: "Puss in Boots!" Rowlf lies down for the session (causing Jimmy to break up). Jimmy asks what he sees in his mind, which causes Rowlf to shudder: "I tawt I taw a puddy tat!" A word association test doesn't help much either. Jimmy then tries hypnosis by asking Rowlf to look at his finger ("Are you sure you studied with Sigmund Freud?"). This involves even more delays, more of Jimmy cracking up, and ad-libs from Rowlf (who wonders who's playing the piano cue).
At last, Rowlf is out ("and I am too," adds Jimmy). He finally stops meowing, but he's clucking like a chicken instead, and he has the egg to prove it (which he drops, unscripted). Finally, after being cured, Rowlf and Jimmy sing a duet of "Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah."
