Jimmy Dean tells the audience that Rowlf's birthday is coming up soon (previously established on the show to be March 4) and suspects Rowlf is not taking the event too well.
Rowlf appears trembling and moaning that he's getting old, whipping out a hand mirror to see he's growing bald. He produces a wig: "You remember me, Cary Grant? No, I look more like General Grant." His mood is worsened when Jimmy strolls in and calls him his "old buddy." He points out to Jimmy some of the grey hairs he's developed, also pulling out a piece of spaghetti due to a miscommunication at a recent wedding (having heard "throw spaghetti" instead of "confetti"); he sights this as his eyesight and hearing beginning to fail as well.
Jimmy agrees to take Rowlf's temperature and blood pressure to prove he's not ailing in his age. The blood pressure machine ends up inflating Rowlf's chest and causes yet another belly button blow-out. Rowlf immediately begins to change his tune when Jimmy brings up the birthday party they were planning on throwing him. The two end the routine by singing "Young at Heart."
