The Lost World is a 1925 silent movie, adapted from the novel by Arthur Conan Doyle. It centers on an expedition to prove that dinosaurs still exist in an obscure part of South America, the titular lost world. The group finds dinosaurs (created through stop-motion animation) as well as a hostile prehistoric human (referred to as an apeman).

- The second season Muppet Babies episode "Out-of-This-World History" uses multiple clips for the babies' adventure in prehistory. They encounter an allosaur from the movie, with cel animation imposed over the clip. Later, when Baby Animal befriends an animated brontosaurus but lures him to the nursery, footage is used of the brontosaurus running loose in London and the crowd fleeing in panic.
