The Monsters on the Bus is a Sesame Street storybook featuring Mr. Johnson. The book presents a Sesame version of the childrens' song "The Wheels on the Bus."
It's raining in the city, and Mr. Johnson gets on the bus (driven by Zoe), which is full of monsters. Ingrid and Humphrey are taking care of Baby Natasha, who spills the contents of her bottle over Mr. Johnson. Grover complains that the man's umbrella is dripping on his edition of Monster News. He finds another seat next to Cookie Monster, who's munching on a bag of cookies. A giant monster carrying a noisy boombox sits in the seat on the other side.
More passengers get on the bus -- a group of hopping frogs and a herd of mooing cows. Oscar the Grouch and His Junk Band jam on the bus, and they're joined by a monster marching band which includes the Two-Headed Monster playing a loud bass drum (with Grover as the bandleader: "HIM again?" utters an aghast Mr. Johnson). Big Bird enjoys the music, and starts singing along. A group of Martians gets on the bus, making loud "Yip! Yip!" noises.
Fed up, Mr. Johnson gets off the bus and decides to take a taxi. He doesn't realize that Grover is driving the cab...
