The Muppets: 70 Years

Beginning in August 2024 and continuing through the end of 2025, The Muppets Studio has planned a year-long series of celebrations, spotlights, events, and products to celebrate the Muppets' 70th anniversary.

As part of the anniversary celebration, each week the brand highlighted a different Muppet character on social media (Facebook, Instagram, and Threads) with photos and video clips, and asked fans to share their "most Muppetational creations inspired by that character" using the hashtag #TheMuppets70.^[1] The character of the week was also spotlighted on digital trading cards and magnets at the Disney Parks. The Muppets Studio also collaborated with fansite Tough Pigs to produce an unofficial companion podcast, "70 Years, 70 Muppets," that discusses each week's spotlighted character.

A collection of exclusive merchandise (including a mug, T-shirt, magnet, tote bag and print) featuring 70th anniversary artwork by Dani Iglesias was released at the 2024 D23 Expo. The convention also featured a panel, "The Muppets 70: A Glamorous Miss Piggy Retrospective," showcasing archival props and costumes relating to Miss Piggy. Walt Disney World would debut a Muppet-based wrap of the Skyliner gondolas on May 9, 2025.

In conjunction with the character spotlights, the Muppets' social media feeds have shared short "Reels" of original video material with Muppet characters reacting to the various spotlights.
