The Next Muppet Movie is a script written by Brian Lynch and sold to the Jim Henson Company in 1999. The script was also known as When Muppets Attack!

The story involved an evil Hollywood producer named Mick, who lures the Muppets away from Kermit and The Muppet Theatre and into their own solo careers. Gonzo replaces Pierce Brosnan as James Bond, Animal tries his hand at rap music and Miss Piggy gets her own talk show.

The script called for celebrity cameos and plenty of spoofs, including one of Baz Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet.

An article in The Hollywood Reporter (March 10, 1999) said that the movie was on the slate for production, after the release of Muppets from Space and the next movie planned, Muppets Haunted Hotel.

On March 30, 2020, Lynch posted a sample of his script on Twitter featuring an exchange between Fozzie Bear and Jon Stewart. Following fan reactions to the scripts, he posted further pages that depicted Pierce Brosnan's replacement as Bond and his subsequent attempt to audition for the Muppets.[1]
