The Powerpuff Girls is an animated series on Cartoon Network about three little girls who have super powers.
Muppet Mentions[]
- The TV Puppet Pals, puppets who perform slapstick in front of a Sesame Street-style brick wall and blue backdrop, are watched by the girls in "Mommy Fearest" (the second half of the first episode) and appear briefly in two other episodes. The characters were introduced in the "Justice Friends" segments of Dexter's Laboratory.
- In the episode "The Rowdyruff Boys," Bubbles smashes through a grocery store window. The elderly clerk asks her if she's all right. She replies, "Yeah, I'm okay. Sorry about your window, Mr. Looper," and the clerk shouts, "It's Cooper! Cooper!" in reference to Big Bird often confusing Mr. Hooper's name.
- In The Powerpuff Girls Movie, when the girls are walking past the TV store, the news shows a logo very similar to the Sesame Street News Flash title card. The logo was seen again in the episode "Pee Pee G's."
- According to the show's creator Craig McCracken, the character Fuzzy Lumpkins was inspired by a Muppet character (who he recalled as being named "Precious") and Lurky on Rainbow Brite.[1]
- In the 10th anniversary special "The Powerpuff Girls Rule!", the Sesame Street song "None Some All" is referenced when all the villains attack Townsville. The announcer yells, "All the villains! And all the bratty ones, and all the fuzzy ones and all the icky ones and sticky ones and all the scary ones and all the villains are..." Then Mojo Jojo replies, "One of us is not here!"
