The Princess and the Pea is a Danish fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen, first published in 1835.

• Rumpel, Samson, and Annette imagine how the story would go if it was written by a Grouch in the Sesamstrasse episode 2417.

• On Ernie & Bert Märchensongs, Finchen assumes the role of the princess, while Bert plays the prince, replacing the pea with a rubber duck.

• In Episode 4279 of Sesame Street, the princess (performed by Leslie Carrara-Rudolph) comes by Big Bird's nest and searches for a pea within it, which she suspects is preventing Big Bird from sleeping.

• When Princess Polly contacts Cookie Monster's Foodie Truck for help finding peas to serve pea soup at a dinner party, Cookie Monster suggests she look for them under her mattress. (First: Episode 5117)
