The Seedy Birds are part of Phineas T. Barnswallow's Barnstorming Aviary in the first Sesame Street Live show, A Sesame Street Mystery: The Case of the Missing Rara Avis. They were originally voiced by Jerry Nelson (red), Richard Hunt (green), Louise Gold (pink), and Kathryn Mullen (blue).
The program lists the individual birds as:
- Tangerine, the Argentinian Cockatoo
- Miranda, a Mauretanian Mudhen
- Eduardo, of the Flying Fandango
- Victor, whose ancestry is uncertain
The birds returned in future shows: Around the World (1983), Save Our Street (1985) and Silly Dancing (1989).
In Save Our Street, three of the birds are renamed "The Meanie Birds" and act as henchmen to Mr. Meanie.
