The Squire is the wealthy village land owner in the Mother Goose Stories episode "Boy Blue." The squire hires Little Boy Blue to watch over his sheep and cow and keep the animals out of the meadow and out of the corn.
One day, the squire walks by the field to sees the animals in the meadow and in the corn. He quickly removes his rebellious livestock and goes in search of his missing employee. When he finds Boy Blue asleep in the hay, he is furious and about to fire the boy, but is softened by the boy's explanation that he had spent all night tending to his sick mother. Impressed that a young boy would care so much for his mother, the squire rewards Boy Blue's selflessness by inviting the boy and his mother to come live in the cottage that stands by the hall.
