The Tale of the Story Beyond the Tale is a 22 minute documentary hosted by Gonzo and Rizzo the Rat about the making of Muppet Treasure Island. It appears on the 2002 DVD release of the film. It was not carried over to the 2005 DVD, but it was included on the 2013 Blu-ray.
The featurette includes a substantial amount of behind-the-scenes footage, as well as interviews with Brian Henson, Jerry Juhl, Kirk Thatcher, Dave Goelz, Steve Whitmire, Billy Connolly, Tim Curry, Miss Piggy, Bill Barretta, Bad Polly, Clueless Morgan, Mad Monty, Kevin Bishop, and Val Strazovec.
