The Threepenny Opera is a German musical with music by Kurt Weill and lyrics by Bertolt Brecht.
The song "Mack the Knife" was performed on both The Muppet Show and Muppets Tonight.

- The July 10, 1984 edition of The Muppets comic strip establishes a feature in Playbill called "Little Known Facts About Broadway." Waldorf reads that Threepenny Opera was originally written by Brecht and [Marc] Blitzstein (who translated it into English) as the "One Penny Opera"... then Kurt Weill came along and threw his two cents in.
