"The Word" is a song written and performed by the Beatles released in 1965. On Sesame Street, the song was performed by Marty with a trio of Anything Muppet hippies (voiced by Jerry Nelson, Frank Oz, and Fran Brill).
Marty has trouble deciding what to spell with his letter blocks, until the hippies come by and suggest (in song) the word "love." Marty spells the word out during each chorus, eventually filling the top of the screen. A beat after the music stops, the blocks are knocked down, causing a huge crash. While several airings cut off this surprise ending, it appears intact in Episode 0386.
