A native of Atlanta, Thom Stanley trained with the Henson company around the time of the early-'90s proposed Disney merger, studying under Kevin Clash and Steve Whitmire. He later served as resident Right Hand Man during the filming of Muppets from Space, choreographing arm movements and performing the right arms of most of the main characters, live-hand and rod puppets alike.

Thom graduated with BFA in Graphic Design from the Savannah College of Art and Design and has been involved in artistic pursuits throughout his life. Thom's first paid project involving puppetry was a video for the United Way, which he worked on with fellow Atlantan Peter Linz. Thom has been puppeteering since he was about 8, when his father built him a puppet stage, complete with working curtains, that Thom used to put on shows for the neighborhood kids.

He has puppeteered in independent short films including Maiden to Monster and Magic the Gathering: The Musical, both entries in the 2013 Atlanta Film Festival and in television commercials for Cartoon Network, GameTap. He also worked on a series pilot titled, Freestyle Love Supreme for Adult Swim where he built and performed all of the puppets. Thom also choreographed puppets for the Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends float in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Regularly, he can be seen performing in the Puckin Fuppet Show, part of the National Puppet Slam Network, teaching classes on puppetry for television and mentoring young puppeteers. Most recently, Thom produced, co-wrote and performed in “Learning to Fly,” a play about 9/11, for XPT – Xperimental Puppetry Theater at The Center for Puppetry Arts. He is currently making plans to perform in a short film he wrote titled “A Perfect Match” about two puppeteers on a blind date. When Thom isn’t building or performing puppets, he works as a freelance Art Director and Producer in the advertising and marketing industries.

He has also put together an impressive array of themed costumes for Atlanta's Dragon Con, and in 2004 appeared on stage as Dr. Teeth of The Electric Mayhem.
