Actually, I have some info to add to this, including dates when I dig the articles back up, and was thrilled to see it when Enrique added it It was an ASIFA event originally, so an actual film festival, not an aired TV special or anything. I'm not sure how it would be categorized, either event or possibly even movies, given the intro?
Okay, this isn't what I thought it was (also, we need to find a way to rename this thread, so it's clearer what this discussion is for). I thought at first it was this event from 1996, but celebrating "25 Years" of animation made for Sesame Street, indicating a 1994 date:
From the roster, a lot of overlap but clearly the ASIFA event was longer.
That actually sounds like a closer match. My theory right now is that this is likely a compilation that CTW/Sesame had, maybe updates on occasion, and sends to museums or schools when the request is made or for promotional purposes or whatever. Maybe Joe or someone could make further inquiries.
Here it's referred to as the first such film festival and had 47 segments, while the list here has a little over 25 (they may or may not have been counting the intro), so that also adds to the theory that they adjust for venue and time. It's beginning to look like this should be an umbrella article at least.
The links to the more recent ones are most likely new compilations made to celebrate the 40th anniversary (like Inside the Sesame Vault). The one I wrote up is mostly 90's artists, with no sight of Bud Luckey or William Wegman at all.
