The gallery of photos of celebrities on Season 49 has been curated from various social media accounts. As we categorize each individual's page, are we sure we're putting them in Category:Sesame Street Guest Stars right away?
I'm just thinking of Evangeline Lilly and Lea DeLaria who have visited the set in years past and never appeared on the show. And also trying to be aware of the fact that if we don't categorize them there now, we'll probably forget to do it later.
That seems like a fair point; we don't really know for sure if they're actually guest starring, unless we see specific behind the scenes photos of them on set. If we can confirm through the photos that we know they're not just visiting (Bill Nye is one), then I say just leave them in Celebrities and we can just add the guest star category when the press stuff comes out.
The involvement of few of the celebrities who visited the set during production is unclear (Annie Wheaton and Meredith Salenger could have been there simply because their spouses were appearing; Ann Harada could have been visiting simply as a friend and former-costar of D'Abruzzo's and Barnhart's; and Whoopi could have been on the set for other reasons -- Whoopi already has a reason to be in the category and the other three don't have pages yet)... but the rest of the celebrities have been confirmed as being part of Season 49 (often with the #Season49 hashtag used by the official Sesame Street Twitter and/or Instagram accounts... or with other details of their appearance reported by the star, the puppeteers, Sesame Workshop, or other outlets).
I've moved the list of celebrities from the "guest stars" header to Production with the understanding that these people visited the set during the production of this season, but aren't necessarily Guest Stars.
The premiere is only a month away; once we confirm an individual as having appeared on the show, we can move them to the Guest Stars header like we have on other season pages. As was my guess at the start of this thread, not every one of these celebrities are guests; some are just visiting. An anonymous source confirmed some of them to me, for which I've started a list at Sandbox:Celebrities who visited Sesame Street but weren't guests.
We should apply this policy to Season 49, Season 50, and any future seasons moving forward.
