If I remember correctly, you'd been collecting some of those highly coveted Character style guides in the past. And I'm aware that they're not the same as the Marvel production guides, but maybe you've got some other source for this: Do you by chance happen to have any decent quality version of the _frontal_ full-body image of Frith's Baby Scooter?
I have a couple of physical copies of character guides, but a Muppet Babies one is not among them. I may have something digitally, though. I'll have to check my hard drive when I get home.
There's one on eBay right now, but frankly, I'm not sure it's even real. The characters look off model and it seems like it would be an easy thing to fake. Even if it is authentic, it's not the one we're looking for anyway.
This does remind me though, I'd had some thoughts recently about splitting up the Character style guides into their own pages. What do you think?
Those eBay photos seem to be the same ones that we feature on the style guides page. And they made me wonder: While the reboot show clearly aged the characters visually (late pre-school age), that particular style guide (ca. 1992, as they claim) takes an even younger approach (toddler age). Have these obviously younger versions been featured on a lot of products? (These plush sets immediately come to mind.) If there's a good amount of representation, maybe we should make notes on their respective Alternate Ages pages.
As the style guide page will only grow as more visuals are added (which I personally LOVE, of course), I think splitting them up would make sense as long as we have some sorta style guide disambiguation page linking to the different franchises' guides!
And I'm crossing my fingers that you might find Scoots! :)
Re the guide on eBay and the style guides page, it wasn't used for the actual series. It's for merchandising only. I'm not sure of the artist, but the look feels like a blend of Daryl Cagle and Guy Gilchrist.
I agree, those 1992 toddler versions have a very Gilchristy-Cagley look to themselves, especially Gonzo, Fozzie and Animal.
But does that mean that they wouldn't have a place on their respective Alternate Ages pages because they ONLY appeared on merchandise in this form? If we found a book using the design, would that count?
A book would definitely count, and I'm not sure it would make a difference on Alternate Ages anyway. Just that we wouldn't want to present those images as if they were the character designs used for the animated series.
Yes!!! I also love me some palm-pumping, belly-pushing Baby Bunsen! A few of those (brighter scanned) supplements look like scans I'd previously found online and done some heavy clean-up work on, posted in this gallery; we might want to compare, combine, and only keep whatever's the bigger or cleaner version?!
Overall, what a visual feast! I love the Gonzilla Monster, and adore the Snuffy silhouette by the water! ❤
Yeah, I think that happens with newly populated categories now. It took a day for Category:Dates to populate as well. When I swap the view from Dynamic to Exhibition or Classic, I can see the articles in it.
