Thudge is one of the monsters who try to steal Christmas in an Ed Sullivan Show sketch featuring Arthur Godfrey. Thudge is a blue monster with a round purple nose.
Thudge later appeared in The Great Santa Claus Switch, a brief cameo appearance in a Sesame Street Numerosity segment (with other Monsters who were also previously seen on The Ed Sullivan Show), The Muppet Show: Sex and Violence, and the Better World Society ads.
The puppet for Thudge was, at one point, intended to be reused for the character of Bowb in the canceled television special The Musical Monsters of Turkey Hollow as can be evidenced through production photos of the special.
