Tim Scanlon is a deaf actor who was a member of the National Theatre of the Deaf and, specifically, the smaller Little Theatre of the Deaf troupe which made recurring visits to Sesame Street. He appeared in Episode 0366, 0473, 0520, 0587, and 1013.
In Episode 0587, apart from the street scenes, he appeared in two inserts, in which David (in English), Luis (in Spanish), and Linda (in sign language) presented the words "Over" and Under." Scanlon played an athlete who struggled each time, first to go over a hurdle and then under a pile of cans. While the over insert was repeated in other episodes, the under one was not.
During a six year stint with the NTD, Tim Scanlon played Pinocchio in The Wooden Boy (1979) and Khonnon in The Dybbuk (1976). After his Sesame appearances, Scanlon visited Mister Rogers' Neighborhood in 1975, as himself (coaching a pantomime team) in a single neighborhood segment but then recurring in the Neighborhood of Make Believe as Professor Scanlon of the Owl Correspondence School, teaching X the Owl different subjects.
