Timi is a recurring character who appeared on Sesame Street from the mid-1970s through the early 1980s. She was a good friend of Linda's, who is also adept at sign language.
She appeared as early as Episode 0661, visiting Sesame Street with Linda and the Little Theatre of the Deaf. She was given a proper introduction in Episode 1016, where it is said that she and Linda are old friends from acting school. In Episode 1571, her sister, Holly Near, came for a visit.
She notably participated in a season 14 edition of "Ask Oscar," signing all of Telly and Oscar's dialogue.
