- Janice appeared as "Tina Totally" in a centerfold poster for the Spring 1986 issue of Muppet Magazine, credited for the song "We Don't Need Another Gonzo" (a play on Turner's hit, "We Don't Need Another Hero"). The same picture was used in the 1993 Muppet Trading Cards set, with the tagline: "What's Hair Got to Do with It?"
- In the Farscape episode "Thank God It's Friday. Again.," after arriving on the planet Sykar, John Crichton references the film Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, saying, "Oh, yeah, I think I've seen this one. Mel Gibson, Tina Turner. Cage Match." When Rygel is confused by what Crichton is saying, Crichton says "No, don't worry. Nobody saw the third one anyway."
- In 2006, the ad agency behind the Pizza Hut Superbowl ads featuring Jessica Simpson and the Muppets, created a short clip with Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy acting out a scene from the 1993 Tuner biopic "What's Love Got to Do with It," lipsynching to Angela Bassett and Laurence Fishburne.[1]
