TonyDeSena

Tony DeSena is a television writer who served as co-head writer for Sesame Street during Season 33, for which he won a Daytime Emmy Award.

In a 2012 podcast interview, DeSena explains how he ended up on the Sesame writing staff and his function there:[1]

At that time, the head writer was taking a sabbatical, was taking a year off, and they wanted someone just to fill in for one year. So, they spoke to me, and for some reason, thought that I might be good at it [laughs]. . . they only really needed me for about four, four-and-a-half months, to get all those scripts together, so the whole season could be done, in that timeframe.

DeSena's career has primarily consisted of writing for late night television. Among his other writing credits are The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, Late Night with David Letterman, Saturday Night Live (writing for the "Weekend Update" segment during the 1993-94 season), Later with Greg Kinnear, and the Everybody Loves Raymond special "The First Six Years."
