Moving to the United States in 1951, he became a member of "Charlie Parker's All-Stars". He played and recorded with names like Ella Fitzgerald, Quincy Jones, Paul Simon, and Billy Joel. The Beatles' John Lennon, sometimes accompanied by George Harrison, would often listen to Thielemans at noon, pre-fame, in a local club.
