DEBUT | 1976 |
The Two-Headed Singer is a Whatnot with one green head and one blue head, who made appearances on two episodes of The Muppet Show.
On episode 117, the Two-Headed Singer, performed by Jerry Nelson and Richard Hunt, sang "Jump Shout Boogie" with Ben Vereen as the opening number.
On episode 122, he sang an excerpt from "Together Wherever We Go" with Ethel Merman as part of the opening "duets" medley. Although "Together Wherever We Go" was, appropriately enough, originally composed as a trio, the Two-Headed Singer in this appearance is performed by only one puppeteer, John Lovelady. He reappears with the rest of the cast at the end of the medley to sing "Mutual Admiration Society" and also appears in the closing. In this instance, the character's heads were switched: the green head was now on the right side, and the blue head on the left side.
