Unboxing videos are web videos showcasing the unpacking of new products, especially high tech consumer products, toys or other collectors items. The product's owner captures the process and their first impressions on video and later uploads it to the web. Since 2010, the number of YouTube videos with "unboxing" in the headline has increased 871%.[1]

In 2015, Sesame Street released a series of web videos on their YouTube channel parodying the unboxing phenomenon that featured Cookie Monster unboxing various food items.
