UniVerse: A Dark Crystal Odyssey is a ballet produced for The Royal Opera House's 2022/2023 season. It was set to be performed from April 1 - 23, 2022,[1] but was later rescheduled to May 13 - June 4, 2023 on account of the COVID-19 pandemic.[2]
Based on The Dark Crystal, The Royal Opera House website described the ballet as a reimagining of "Jim Hensonβs epic adventure and unsettling world in the context of our own ailing planet, exploring themes of nature, exploitation, courage and rescue, and asking how we can come together to be whole again."[2]
The ballet was choreographed and directed by Wayne McGregor with music by Joel Cadbury. The production was staged in association with The Jim Henson Company, and Brian and Wendy Froud receive special thanks.[2]
