- The plane that the Sesame Street cast boarded for their trip to Hawaii in 1977 was provided by United Airlines. Jim Thurman played the pilot who showed off the 727-22 (N7089U) to Big Bird, signage for which was shown while everyone boarded for the plane.

Sesame Workshop partnered with United in 2023 for an ad campaign in which Oscar the Grouch features as the company's new Chief Trash Officer as a way to promote their use of sustainable aviation fuel.
On March 1, a 15-second spot ran with Oscar reading "The Com-Post" from inside his trash can next to a generic city stoop. Upon reading a want ad for a job in which one of the requirements is "loves trash," Oscar responds excitedly and the ad ends teasing if Oscar will get the job.
Three spots released the following day with Oscar filling the role of United's Chief Trash Officer: one in which he's wearing a tie at his desk, and two with fellow United employees discussing the benefits of sustainable aviation fuel.
